Brian Kelly is the editor and chief content officer of U.S. News & World Report, a print and digital publisher of news and information which reaches more than 8 million people a month. The company's products include the website usnews.com with its channels devoted to news & opinion, education, health, money and autos; the digital U.S. News Weekly; and a series of print newsstand books. He is also responsible for the education group, which publishes the magazine's annual education reports, America's Best Colleges and Best Graduate Schools.

Over the past several years, Kelly has led the transformation of U.S. News from a traditional newsmagazine to a multimedia publishing company with a range of products serving consumer information needs. These include an expansion of the company's health information channel, anchored by the annual Best Hospitals ranking, the launch of a new auto ranking site which has become a top-ten destination for car buyers, and the creation of the influential America's Best High Schools feature.

Kelly, who was named editor in April 2007, was previously executive editor, and before that assistant managing editor for the U.S. News section, supervising and editing domestic news and political coverage.

He joined the magazine in 1998 after serving as congressional editor of the Washington Post, a position that included overseeing coverage of Capitol Hill and political campaigns. Kelly was also deputy editor for both Outlook, the Post's Sunday opinion section, and Style, the daily feature section, during his six years at the newspaper.

Prior to working at the Post, he was the editor of Regardie's, an award-winning monthly magazine that covered business and politics in the Washington region. He has also been a reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times, and began his journalism career at the Daily Register, in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

Kelly is the author of the book Adventures in Porkland, a study of pork barrel politics on Capitol Hill. With Mark London, he co-authored the books The Four Little Dragons, an exploration of the developing economies of Asia, and Amazon, a look at the economic and cultural forces behind the clearing of the Amazon rainforest. Kelly and London returned to the Amazon 25 years later to write a sequel, The Last Forest, which Random House published in 2007.

Kelly has appeared on numerous television programs, including NBC's Tonight Show and Today, along with the CNN programs Larry King Live and Reliable Sources. He has also been a guest on C-SPAN and National Public Radio. He is a frequent speaker and panelist on issues related to Washington, politics and education. He is the moderator of the U.S. News National Issues Briefings series, which brings together policy experts in Washington and other major cities.

Kelly earned a BA in economics from Georgetown University, where he was editor of the Georgetown Voice, a student newspaper.

He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and three children.
